Bobcats Lose 1-0 Contest to Wheeling Jesuit

BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan head coach Gavin Donaldson knew that his Bobcats would be down three starters heading into tonight's huge MEC clash with Wheeling Jesuit.

It didn't get any better for Donaldson as the game progressed as he lost defender R. J. Sho-Silva early in the contest because of an injury and Jordan Halpern also left the contest in the second half due to an injury.

The result for the short-handed Bobcats was a 1-0 setback.

The game had huge ramifications on the MEC standings as the winner would be assured of third place while the loser would wrap up fourth place.

Wesleyan will now have to play the top team in America as they will face Charleston in the first-round while Wheeling Jesuit will travel to Notre Dame. Both first-round games will be played on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Before Wesleyan begins MEC tournament play, they still have a non-conference game that will close out their regular season. They will visit Chestnut Hill Friday for a 4 p.m. start.

The lone goal of the game came in the 73rd minute of play when Jordan Frommeyer played a cross just right of the net from 12 feet out from Aitor Iniguez De Heredia.

Wheeling Jesuit owned an 8-6 shots-on-goal advantage and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Wesleyan keeper Luka Pauk turned away seven shots.

Wesleyan fell to 7-6-3 overall and 5-5-2 in the MEC.

Wheeling Jesuit improved to 8-6-2 overall and 6-5-1 in the MEC.
