BUCKHANNON -- Fresh off their tie against No. 2 Charleston Sunday, the West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team showed no signs up letting up as they poured it on Lock Haven (Pa.) by a 3-0 score in a key non-conference victory.
It was a battle of Top 10 Atlantic Regional teams as Wesleyan entered the game ranked sixth while Lock Haven was ranked ninth.
Wesleyan had their best offensive scoring game as well as this is the first time they have scored three goals in a contest.
Jordan Halpern gave Wesleyan a 1-0 lead just 14 minutes into the game after playing a cross from Alex Zidani and shooting it to the near post.
Halpern struck again right before halftime when he scored with a shot to the far post to treat Wesleyan to a 2-0.
Thomas Capstick was credited with assist on the goal.
Zidani tied a bow around the win with an unassisted goal with 90 seconds left.
He stole the ball from a defender, made a long run and scored to the near post.
Lock Haven owned a 10-9 margin in shots but Wesleyan had an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.
Wesleyan keeper Felipe Vial, the current MEC Player of the Week, turned away three shots for his fourth shutout of the year.
With the win, Wesleyan improved to 5-3-2 overall. Lock Haven dropped to 4-5-1.
The Bobcats will return to action this Sunday when they visit Concord for a 2:30 p.m. start.
