Urbana, Ohio -- The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats were on the road Saturday afternoon as they took on the Urbana Blue Knights in an MEC doubleheader. Due to treacherous road conditions as a result of the recent snow showers, the Bobcats were slowed down on their travels forcing a 20 minute delay on the scheduled 1P.M. start time.
The Ladies were hoping for their first win in conference play but were trumped by the Blue Knights 79 – 61. The Men continued their good form claiming their fourth consecutive victory 76 – 62.
In the Women's match-up, the Lady Bobcats were head to head for the majority of the first half but with three minutes left allowed Urbana to gain the lead. The Ladies went into the half trailing the Blue Knights by seven 43 – 36. With the game still in reach, Wesleyan failed to make a comeback in the second half being outscored 36 – 25, with the final score 79 – 61.
Despite the loss, the Bobcats were led by two double digit scorers, Brittany Williams with the game high of 21 points and Allie Browne added 10 points. Williams was 7-10 for field goals made and was almost perfect with 7-8 in free throws.
This defeat leaves the Bobcats 0 – 18 in conference and 2 – 20 overall. They are back in action Thursday February 20 at 5:30P.M. when they travel to West Liberty.
