Wheeling, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan Men's tennis team won their third straight match with a 7-2 conquest of West Liberty State University here Saturday evening. The match was moved indoors to the Wheeling Park Tennis Center due to heavy rains, but the adversity seemed to have little effect on the Bobcats. The win brings Wesleyan's record to 7-3 overall, and they remain unbeaten in MEC play at 2-0.
The 'Cats started the day with a sweep of the doubles, and they added singles wins at 2, 4, 5, and 6 spots. Aitor Reparaz, Nathan Savill, Andre Fernandes, and Jacobo Rendon each contributed two wins on the day. Joel Izquierdo also fought hard before falling in a third set, super tie-break by a 16-14 score.
The Bobcats return to the road Sunday as they travel to Waynesboro, PA, to square off against Shepherd University the Tennis Club of Buchanan Trail. Match time has been moved to 4pm to accommodate the indoor court time. The Rams were the preseason pick to finish 3rd in the MEC, and this will be a key conference and regional match for both teams.
