Box Score 2 Shepherdstown, W.Va. -- The Bobcat Softball travelled to Shepherd to do battle with the Rams in a MEC matchup. Wesleyan dominated both contests winning 17-1 in the first game and 8-2 in the second, propelling them to a 23rd ranking in the nation. The wins improve the Bobcats record to 22-6 overall and 7-1 in the MEC.
In game one the Bobcats showered the Rams with 19 team hits, posting four runs in the first inning and six runs in the second to put the Rams behind that eight ball at 10-0 going in to the bottom of the 2nd. Third baseman Carly Gregory collected seven RBI's in the contest going 3-4 with a homerun. Jessica Griffin would pick up the victory for Wesleyan going all five innings in the shortened contest allowing only one run on six hits.
Wesleyan would find themselves down 2-0 headed in to the top of the 4th inning in the second game before erupting for five runs in the inning giving the Bobcats the edge. Pitcher Jacqui Omichinski would hold the Rams scoreless the rest of the way out earning the win as Wesleyan would add their other three runs in the top of the 5th to bring the total to 8-2. First baseman, Jessica Rodriguez would lead the way with 2 RBI's and two walks at the plate to pace the 'Cats.
The team will return home this weekend to host Wheeling Jesuit Saturday at 2:00pm and West Liberty Sunday at 1:00pm.
