Box Score BUCKHANNON -- The West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated Notre Dame in overtime by a 1-0 score Saturday evening at the Wood Street Field.
Colette Biondi (Trafford, Pa./Psychology) scored the game's lone goal in the 92nd minute in the the overtime session after playing a through ball from Keenan Moreta (Bayfield, Col./Marketing) and scoring from 15 yards out.
Wesleyan outshot Notre Dame by a 15-11 margin and owned a 9-6 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Lauren Duncan (Sugar Hill, Ga./Exercise Science) turned away six shots for her third shutout of the year.
Notre Dame owned a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Wesleyan was guilty of 15 fouls while Notre Dame was called for 12.
With the win, Wesleyan improved to 4-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the MEC.
The loss was the first of the season for Notre Dame. They are now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the MEC.
Wesleyan will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Shepherd for a conference tilt at 2:30 p.m.
