Lady Bobcats Win Opener Against Lake Erie, 1-0

PAINESVILLE, OHIO-- It took 84 minutes of action before anyone found the back of the net in the West Virginia Wesleyan-Lake Erie soccer contest Thursday afternoon in Painesville, Ohio.

Fortunately for the Lady Bobcats it was Lexi Battocchi (Imperial, Pa./Accounting) who scored the game's first and only goal as Wesleyan outlasted Lake Erie for a 1-0 victory.

It was the season opener for both teams.

Battoccchi scored the unassisted goal at the 84:32 mark of the game.

Wesleyan outshot Lake Erie by a 14-9 margin.

Lady Bobcat goalie Lauren Duncan (Sugar Hill, Ga./Exercise Science) recorded three saves in the net.

Head coach Patrick Holguin and his team will return to action this Saturday when they host Cedarville in their home opener at 3 p.m.
