MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team opened up a 2-0 lead against host Millersville but couldn't make that score stand up as they dropped a disappointing 3-2 overtime decision.
Mike Geiselhart (Apollo,Pa/Education) gave Wesleyan a 1-0 lead at the 31:40 minute mark when he scored with a shot from inside the box.
Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead when Alex White (Hurricane, W.Va./Applied Physics) took a midfield pass from Geiselhart and out raced the defender for the score at the 58:11 mark.
Jesse Zimmerman put Millersville on the board during a 3-on-2 breakaway when he scored at the 71:44 mark.
Jaime Vazquez scored on a penalty kick after a foul on Wesleyan just eight minutes later to deadlock the game at 2-2.
Vazquez scored the game-winner in overtime with a free kick from the top of the box.
Wesleyan owned a 9-6 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Felipe Vial (Plano, Tex./Business Management) made three saves for Wesleyan.
The loss dropped Wesleyan to 1-1 overall.
They will have their home debut this Saturday when they host Concord at 7 p.m.
