Box Score BUCKHANNON – It was one of those game you would just rather forget about if you are the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats here Monday night against Wheeling Jesuit in a Mountain East Conference contest.
The first half saw the Lady Bobcats turn the ball over 16 times and also saw the ejection of head coach Michael Bari after he was hit with two technical fouls.
Wesleyan played the game without the services of sixth-man KiKi DeVane who was out with an illness.
Wesleyan only made six baskets in the first-half as they trailed 38-18 after 20 minutes of action.
The final score was in Jesuit's favor by a 77-50 score.
The first four minutes of the game were actually favorable for the Lady 'Cats.
After Wheeling Jesuit scored the first basket, Mari Stewart made a lay-up and then a jumper and Adrian Cunningham drained two free throws to stake Wesleyan to a 6-2 lead.
Wheeling Jesuit went on a 16-4 jaunt to take an 18-10 advantage.
Wesleyan attempted to keep it close as Cunningham connected on a jumper and Stacy Remer uncorked a three-pointer to bring the Lady Bobcats to within three at 18-15, with 7:19 remaining.
The final seven minutes of the first half belonged to Wheeling Jesuit as they went on a 20-3 run to take a 38-18 lead into the break.
The only basket for the Lady 'Cats in that final seven minutes of the first half was a Remer three-pointer.
A Kylie Frizell three-pointer gave Wheeling Jesuit their biggest lead of the game, at 67-35, with 7:31 left in the contest.
Wesleyan outscored Wheeling Jesuit by a 15-10 margin over the final seven minutes.
For the game, Wesleyan shot 17-for-51 from the floor for 33.3 percent.
They were outrebounded by a 40-35 margin.
Wesleyan only turned the ball over five times in the second half but still ended the game with 21.
Stewart led the Lady Bobcats in scoring with 16 points while Cunningham added 15.
Remer and Allie Browne (pictured) each had a team-high six rebounds.
Browne had a game-high seven assists.
Frizell led all scorers with 21 points for Wheeling Jesuit.
Wesleyan (0-12 overall and 0-9 in the MEC) will return to action this Saturday when they visit Urbana for a 2 p.m. tip-off
