ATHENS – Senior forward KiKi DeVane (pictured) nailed a jumper with seven seconds remaining to give the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats a thrilling 57-56 come-from-behind victory over the Concord Lady Mt. Lions here Thursday night in a Mountain East Conference contest.

The win improved the Lady 'Cats of head coach Michael Bari to 2-14 overall and 2-11 in the MEC. Following a 0-12 start, Wesleyan is 2-2 in their last four games.

Wesleyan staged an incredible second-half comeback to record the win.

The Lady 'Cats were down by 15, at 41-26, at the 15:10 mark.

Adrian Cunningham made a lay-up and Andrea Lee stroked in two free throws to bring Wesleyan to within 11, at 41-30.

Concord stayed ahead by 11 at 45-34, but Wesleyan went on an 8-0.

Alexa Mortenson went inside for a lay-up, DeVane made two free throws and then came back with a lay-up and Cunningham canned a jumper to trim the lead to three, at 45-42, with 5:19 left in the game.

After the two teams traded hoops, Cunningham drilled a 13-footer to narrow the Concord lead to one, at 47-46, with 4:03 remaining.

Rachel Artrip unleaded a three-pointer for Concord that put them back ahead by four, but DeVane downed two free throws after being fouled grabbing an offensive rebound and Stacy Remer had a steal and took it inside for a lay-up to tie the game at 50-50 with 2:38 left.

Artip made another trey for Concord, but Allie Browne countered with her own three that tied the game at 53-53 with 1:34 showing on the clock.

Concord missed a lay-up and quickly fouled Browne who calmly made both free throws to give Wesleyan a 55-53 advantage.

Artrip uncorked another three pointer, her third of the half, to give Concord a 56-55 lead with 49 seconds left.

Mari Stewart missed on her three-point attempt but Browne had a quick steal which led to a Wesleyan time out with 26 seconds left.

Wesleyan ran the clock down to seven seconds before DeVane nailed a five-foot jumper.

Artrip missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

"KiKi got into early foul trouble for us but down the stretch she got us some key offensive rebounds and of course hit a great short jumper from the paint to put us up for good," remarked Bari. "Overall I thought our team played a great second half and really showed great composure and execution down the stretch."

Stewart compiled a double-double in the win with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Also reaching double digits were Browne with 13 points and Cunningham with 12. DeVane ended the game with eight points.

Wesleyan outrebounded Concord by a 40-28 margin.

Concord fell to 5-12 overall and 5-8 in the MEC.

Wesleyan will stay on the road this Saturday when they travel to Fairmont State for a MEC clash starting at 2 p.m.
