CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team put a good fight against the fifth-ranked Charleston Golden Eagles today, but ultimately dropped a 2-0 decision in Mountain East Conference action.
The Golden Eagles scored their first goal at the 18:31 mark in the first half and their second goal at the 59:13 mark of the second half.
Charleston owned a 15-5 advantage in shots and a 5-2 lead in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Luka Pauk turned away three shots.
Charleston had a 7-1 margin in corner kicks.
The loss ended Wesleyan's four-game winning streak and their streak of three consecutive shutouts.
Wesleyan fell to 5-6-1 overall and 4-5 in the MEC.
Charleston improved to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in the MEC.
The Bobcats will return to action this Wednesday when they host Lock Haven (Pa.) in a non-conference contest.
The outing is slated to start at 4 p.m.
