Moreta Scores in OT to Give Lady 'Cats 1-0 Win Over NDC

BUCKHANNON – For 90 minutes, the 15th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats and Notre Dame College couldn't find the back of the net here today in a Mountain East Conference clash at Culpepper Field.

But it took the Lady Bobcats just over a minute to find the back of the net in overtime as they defeated Notre Dame by a 1-0 score.

With the ball being knocked around in front of the Notre Dame net, Jane Schleicher collected it and played a pass to Keenan Moreta who beat Notre Dame keeper Samantha Shoemaker for the lone goal of the game.

It was the 13th shutout of the season for the Lady 'Cats.

Wesleyan owned a 17-6 lead in shots and a 12-3 margin in shots-on-goal.

Notre Dame owned a 2-1 lead in corner kicks.

Wesleyan keeper Hillary Dewitt posted her 13th shutout of the season as well turning away three shots.

The Lady Bobcats were guilty of 13 fouls while Notre Dame was called for nine.

Wesleyan improved to 13-0-2 on the season and 11-0-2 in the MEC.

Notre Dame fell to 9-4-1 overall and 8-3-1 in the MEC.

The Lady Bobcats will play again this Thursday when they entertain Shepherd at 3 p.m.
