Box Score BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team didn't disappoint their eight seniors on Senior Day today against Urbana University in a Mountain East Conference contest at Culpepper Stadium.
The Lady Bobcats sent their seniors, playing their final regular-season game at Culpepper Stadium, out as winners as Wesleyan downed Urbana by a 1-0 score.
The lone goal came at the 10:21 mark as Colette Biondi (pictured) scored from the top of the box after playing a touch pass from Tiana Bennardo.
The shutout was the 15th of the season for the Lady Bobcats.
Wesleyan keeper Hillary Dewitt has been responsible for all 15 shutouts. She turned away five shots in the victory today.
The Lady Bobcats had an 18-7 lead in shots and a 16-5 margin in shots-on-goals.
Urbana actually owned a 4-3 lead in corner kicks.
Wesleyan was called for 15 fouls while Urbana was whistled for 12.
The eight seniors honored were DeWitt, Biondi, Bennardo, Kristi Dalton, Emily Blake, Hannah Gurtis, Rachel Ritchey and Keenan Moreta.
The win upped Wesleyan's record to 15-0-2 overall and 13-0-2 in the MEC.
They will wrap up their regular season this Wednesday at West Liberty.
That game will kick-off at 2:30 p.m.
