Lady Bobcats End Regular Season With 1-0 Win Over WLU

WEST LIBERTY – The 11th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats wrapped up their regular season with a 1-0 victory over West Liberty today in a Mountain East Conference contest.

The Lady Bobcats ended the regular season without a loss on their record.

They own a 16-0-2 record overall and a 14-0-2 record in the MEC.

It was also the 16th shutout of the season for the Lady Bobcats and keeper Hillary Dewitt.

Wesleyan ended the regular season as the nation's best in goals-against-average (1.12), shutout percentage (0.882) and save percentage (0.964).

In today's game, the two team battled to a scoreless first half.

Wesleyan scored the lone goal of the game at the 61:25 mark.

Colette Biondi (pictured) scored the goal with the assist going to Kelsey Sitka.

The goal was Biondi's team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Wesleyan owned an 18-8 margin in shots and a 7-2 lead in shots-on-goal.

Corner kicks were even at five apiece.

The Lady Bobcats were guilty of 16 fouls while West Liberty was called for 18.

Wesleyan will now advance to the MEC Tournament next week as the top seed.

They will host Shepherd in a semi-final battle while Charleston will visit Notre Dame in the other semi-final contest.
