CHARLESTON – Very little went right for the West Virginia Wesleyan football team against No. 23 University of Charleston here tonight at UC Stadium at Laidley Field in the Mountain East Conference Game of the Week.

Wesleyan dropped a 65-21 decision.

Junior tailback Michael Anderson (pictured) was one of the few bright spots in the game.

He ran for 173 yards on 19 carries and one score.

After falling behind by 10 points, Wesleyan put together their lone scoring drive of the first half early in the second quarter.

It was a six-play, 76-yard drive that ended on a nifty 50-yard run by Anderson.

Nick Banta kicked the point-after to make it a 10-7 game with 14:42 remaining in the second quarter.

Charleston scored the next 28 points of the half to take a 38-7 lead into the intermission.

Luke Casey sparked the offense to a score on their first drive of the second half.

He capped off a 75-yard, seven-play drive with a four-yard scamper with 8:47 left in the third quarter.

That made it a 45-14 game.

Charleston scored three more times to up their lead to 65-14.

Casey scored his second rushing touchdown of the game with 6:27 left in the fourth quarter.

He finished off a 75-yard, five-play drive with another four-yard run.

Banta's point-after kick made it a 65-21 game.

Wesleyan's offense racked up 348 yards.

Ryan Deal completed 12 of his 25 passes for 142 yards.

Casey played the entire second half and was 2-for-8 for 24 yards.

Casey ran for 56 yards on nine attempts and had two touchdowns.

Mike Savage led the defense with seven tackles.

Wesleyan fell to 1-7 overall and 1-7 in the MEC.

Charleston improved to 8-1 overall.

Wesleyan will return to action next Saturday when they host UVa.-Wise at 1 p.m.

The UVa.-Wise game will be "Senior Day" for the Bobcats as they recognize their eight seniors.
