BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team went out as winners today in their regular-season finale as they downed Chowan 1-0 in a non-conference affair at Culpepper Stadium.
Dominic Okus scored the lone goal of the game as he found the back of the net from just a few yards out at the 51:08 mark.
Paul Smith was credited with the assist.
The shutout was the eighth of the season for the Bobcats and the seventh for Wesleyan keeper Luka Pauk.
Pauk turned away all four shots he faced.
Wesleyan owned a 15-7 lead in shots and a 12-4 margin in shots-on-goal
Wesleyan had a 6-3 lead in corner kicks.
Chowan was guilty of 17 fouls while Wesleyan was called for 11.
This game was the season-finale for the Bobcats. They were eliminated for a spot in the MEC Tournament this past Wednesday when Wheeling Jesuit defeated Urbana. Wesleyan finished fifth in the MEC as the top four move on to the tournament.
