White Named MEC Defensive Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Urbana's Raoui Lassoued is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan defender Alex White is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Lassoued, a senior from Paris, France, helped lead the Blue Knights to a pair of victories last week as Urbana extended its winning streak to seven matches. He opened the week with an assist in a 3-1 win over Shepherd, and then netted a brace in a decisive 4-0 win over Wheeling Jesuit, including a brilliant 30-yard strike. Urbana currently sits tied atop the MEC standings with 15 points.

White, a junior from Hurricane, W.Va., helped the Bobcats to a 1-0 win over Shippensburg last week. White helped lead a unit that limited the Raiders to just two shots on goal. Shippensburg averages nearly two goals a game and WVWC shut the Raiders out for the first time in 2015.
