Box Score BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat lacrosse team couldn't maintain a halftime lead against the Edinboro Fighting Scots here today in a non-conference clash.
The Lady 'Cats led by a 5-4 score at the intermission but wound up dropping a 14-10 decision.
Jessica Hardman scored just a few seconds into the game to treat the Lady 'Cats to an early 1-0 lead.
Taylor Holmes sandwiched a goal between two Edinboro scores that made it a 2-2 game.
Emily Noel scored the next two goals for Wesleyan to give them a 4-2 lead.
Edinboro scored the next two but Hardman closed the half with a goal to give Wesleyan their 5-4 halftime lead.
Noel scored just 50 seconds into the second half to give Wesleyan a 6-4 lead, but Edinboro controlled play over the next 10 minutes and scored the next six goals to take a 10-6 advantage.
Wesleyan though turned the tide back in their favor as they scored the next three goals to close it to a 10-9 contest.
Kim Lubic (pictured), Hardman and Noel each had a goal for Wesleyan during that run.
Following an Edinboro score, Noel scored again to make it an 11-10 contest with 8:25 remaining.
Edinboro closed the contest with three straight goals to pull away from the Lady Bobcats.
Noel led the Lady 'Cats with five goals while Hardman had three and Holmes and Lubic each had one apiece.
Edinboro owned a 36-28 lead in shots and a 32-19 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan goalie Lexi Swisher turned away 18 shots.
Wesleyan owned a 16-7 margin in draw controls.
The loss dropped the Lady 'Cats of head coach Karli Brentlinger to 5-2 overall.
They will have little time to rest as they will play St. Vincent on the road Tuesday.
It will be the seventh game in 11 days for the Lady 'Cats.
The contest will begin at 4 p.m.
