MORGANTOWN -- The West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team continued to build on their current winning streak as they turned in a 5-0 conference victory over Shepherd University here Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats have won six straight matches, and seven of eight, after a 1-4 start to the year.
Joel Izquierdo stayed unbeaten in MEC singles play at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over the Ram's Grant Davis and then teamed with Aitor Reparaz for a 8-3 result at No. 1 doubles.
Jacobo Rendon's 6-0, 6-1 win over Steve Lesko was the only other singles match completed before the match was stopped at five points.
The Bobcats, currently ranked fifth in the ITA Atlantic Region, improved their spring record to 8-5 overall, and improve to 4-1 in the MEC.
The 'Cats are scheduled to host West Virginia State at noon Wednesday in Buckhannon, but will move to Morgantown at the West View Tennis Center at 1 p.m. if rain interupts play.
