Izquierdo Named MEC Tennis Player Of The Week

BRIDGEPORT -- West Virginia Wesleyan's Joel Izquierdo has been named the Mountain East Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Izquierdo, a senior from Lleida, Spain, went 3-0 in singles last week.

In addition to wins against Fairmont State and Shaw, he came away with narrow wins in singles and doubles in a key MEC victory over Charleston.

He teamed with Aitor Reparaz in a 9-8 (4) win at No. 1 doubles against the Golden Eagles, and then came away with a 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 win to remain unbeaten in MEC singles play.
