Box Score BRIDGEWATER , Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat lacrosse team rolled to a 19-5 victory over Ferrum (Va.) here tonight in a non-conference victory.
"This was our best game of the season," remarked head coach Karli Brentlinger. "I was so proud of the way we played. Hopefully this will be a huge confidence builder as we prepare for Shepherd on Sunday."
Wesleyan built an early 4-0 lead after getting goals from Kim Lubic, Emily Noel, Natalie Schaffner (pictured) and Hannah Antonelli.
After Ferrum scored a goal at the 19:28 minute-mark, Wesleyan scored the next seven to take a commanding 11-1 lead.
Noel put in three straight goals and Schaffner and Antonelli each scored twice during the run.
Following Ferrum's second goal, Lubic put one in before the half to treat Wesleyan to a 12-2 advantage.
Jessica Hardman started the second half with consecutive goals to up the Wesleyan lead to 14-2.
The two teams traded goals with Wesleyan holding a 16-5 lead before scoring the final three.
Antonelli, Schaffner and Taylor Holmes closed out the scoring.
Wesleyan owned a 29-14 advantage in shots-on-goal and a 14-12 margin in draw controls.
Wesleyan goalie Lexi Swisher turned away 10 shots.
The win improves Wesleyan to 9-3 overall.
They have a huge Mountain East Conference clash with Shepherd University this Sunday at home.
The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
