BUCKHANNON – Freshman stand-out Hannah Vet pitched a one-hit shutout for the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats as they advanced to the winner's bracket finals with a 3-0 win over Seton Hill in day-one action in the NCAA Atlantic Region 2 Softball Tournament here today at Culpepper Field.

Vet set Seton Hill down in order in five of her seven innings of work as she didn't walk a batter and struck out two as she improved her record to 18-3.

Wesleyan provided her with all the offense she would need in the bottom of the second inning.

Megan Malenstyn started the inning reaching on an error when her fly ball to right field was dropped and Krista Waggoner followed with a walk.

Rebekah Honce reached first when her sacrifice bunt was misplayed to load the bases.

Following a Wesleyan strikeout, Rachel Ramsey (pictured) belted a two-run double into the gap into left field that scored Malenstyn and Waggoner.

That treated Wesleyan to a 2-0 lead.

Honce then scored on a passed ball that accounted for Wesleyan's scoring.

Seton Hill's lone hit came in the top of third inning when Delaney Cortazzo singled up the middle.

Wesleyan threatened again in the bottom of the fourth loading the bases with one out, but they were not able to score as they left the bases full.

The Lady 'Cats collected just three hits in the contest with Malenstyn, Anna Eggleston and Ramsey each getting one.

Seton Hill pitcher Christina Henderson tossed a complete game and didn't allow an earned run on three hits.

Wesleyan (35-8) will now advance to the winner's bracket finals where they will meet Concord at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Concord defeated West Chester to advance to the winner's bracket earlier in the day by a 3-1 score.
