SOUTH EUCLID (Ohio) – The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat soccer team dug themselves an early hole that they could get out of against the Notre Dame College Falcons here today in an MEC contest.
The Bobcats fell behind by a 4-0 score and wound up dropping a 4-2 decision.
Notre Dame's Arthur Favero did the damage in the first half with a pair of unassisted goals at the 24:42 and 33:43 mark on the clock.
Notre Dame led at the break, 2-0.
Leonardo Paiva pushed the Notre Dame lead to 3-0 with a goal at the 48:30 mark, and just a minute later Jacob Earnest scored on a header to make it 4-0.
Jordan Halpern put Wesleyan on the board at the 72:39 mark when he scored on a penalty pick.
Halpern scored another goal on a penalty kick with nine minutes remaining in the contest.
Wesleyan trailed in shots-on-goal by a 13-5 margin.
Wesleyan keeper Luka Pauk turned away nine of the 13 shots he faced.
The Falcons had an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Wesleyan (0-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the MEC) will return home this Sunday when they face the University of Charleston.
Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
