WHEELING – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker today on the road against the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals in a Mountain East Conference contest.
Wesleyan dropped a 3-2 decision.
The Bobcats owned a 2-0 a lead early on only to watch the Cardinals score three unanswered, including the game-winner which came with just over a minute remaining.
Senior midfielder Jordan Halpern continued his strong season.
Halpern had both of Wesleyan's first-half goals.
He scored his first at the 20:50 mark and then just three minutes later, he tallied his second goal.
Both goals were unassisted.
The two goals lifted Jordan's season total to six on the young season.
Aitor de Heredia scored on a penalty kick for Wheeling Jesuit at the 37:57 mark.
Wesleyan led by a 2-1 score at the break.
Matt Vogt scored both of Wheeling Jesuit's second-half goals.
The first one was at the 55:43 mark and the heartbreaker for Wesleyan came at 88:53.
Wesleyan owned a 9-8 advantage in shots-on-goal and had a 6-4 lead in corner kicks.
Wesleyan keeper Luka Pauk made five saves.
Wesleyan, now 0-4-1 overall and 0-3 in the MEC, will return to action this Sunday when they host Concord at 3 p.m.
