Box Score CEDARVILLE (Ohio) – It took two overtime periods and over 100 minutes of action, but West Virginia Wesleyan won their season debut against Cedarville here today in a non-conference contest.
The Lady 'Cats won a 1-0 in the 103rd minute of the second overtime.
Jane Schleicher had the game winner for Wesleyan following a Cedarville turnover in their own end. Schleicher had a 20-yard strike that beat Cedarville keeper Hannah Harris.
Wesleyan dominated the statistics as they owned a 16-7 in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
They owned a 5-3 margin in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Hillary Dewitt made two saves in the shutout victory.
The Lady 'Cats were guilty of 11 fouls while Cedarville was called for five.
Wesleyan, now 1-0, will open the home portion of their season this Tuesday when they host Fairmont State at 7 p.m.
