BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team went out as winners in their season-finale tonight in non-conference action against the Salem International Lady Tigers at Rockefeller Center.

The Lady Bobcats of head coach Ashley Ziegle defeated Salem International in straight sets – 25-16, 25-14 and 26-24.

Wesleyan ended the year on a positive note and a two-game winning streak as they took a 3-0 match from Notre Dame on Saturday.

The Lady Bobcats never trailed in the first set. They started the game on a 4-0 run and never looked back.

A service ace by Ebonie Hicks gave Wesleyan a 10-point lead, at 15-5.

Salem International scored the next three, but Wesleyan tallied the next five as Hannah King capped a 5-0 run with a kill to give the Lady Bobcats a 20-8 lead.

A King kill ended the set giving Wesleyan a comfortable nine-point win.

Wesleyan dominated the second set as well.

A pair of aces by Lexi Walsh and a bad set gave Wesleyan a 10-2 advantage.

Salem International closed the score to 15-10 but Wesleyan scored eight straight for a 23-10 lead.

Salem International responded with six straight points to make it a 23-16 game, but a kill by King and a Salem International attack error gave Wesleyan the 25-16 victory.

Wesleyan trailed by seven, at 21-14, in the third and final set.

A pair of attack errors by Salem International, a kill by Stacie Baumann and another attack error by Salem International made it a 21-18 game.

The Lady Tigers still owned a 23-20 lead, but a kill by King, an attack error by Salem International and kills by King and Haley Caudell gave Wesleyan the lead at 24-23.

Salem International tied it at 24-24, but King had another kill and Walsh ended the final set with an ace.

King had a game high 15 kills while Baumann had seven.

Paulina Nottingham had 27 assists.

Walsh had four aces while Hoge had a game-high 16 digs.

Wesleyan had a .129 kill percentage.

Wesleyan ended the year with an 11-21 record.
