Eggleston Named MEC Softball Pitcher the Week

BRIDGEPORT -- West Virginia Wesleyan's Anna Eggleston is the first Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week, while UVa-Wise shortstop Erika McLaughlin is the league's Player of the Week.

Eggleston, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, had a pair of complete game shutouts in the circle for the Lady Bobcats last week. Against Webber International, she pitched all nine innings allowing just two hits, striking out eight and walking two as WVWC prevailed 1-0 in extra innings. She then blanked Kentucky Wesleyan surrendered just three hits and struck out seven.

McLaughlin, a senior from Haymarket, Va., led the Cavs to a 3-0 week after hitting .727 at the Tusculum Pioneer Classic. McLaughlin had multi-hit and multi-RBI performances in each of the three games. She ended the week with four extra-base hits (slugging 1.182), seven RBI and four runs scored.
