SHIPPENSBURG (Pa.) – A slow start in the first half cost the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat lacrosse team in their non-conference match-up with Shippensburg Raiders today at the Robb Sports Complex.

The Lady Bobcats fell behind by a 10-2 score at the half before dropping a 15-6 contest.

Less than 24 hours after their first win of the season against Wilmington, the setback dropped Wesleyan to 1-4 overall.

With Wesleyan down 3-0, Hannah Antonelli (pictured) put Wesleyan on the board at the 11:51 mark with an unassisted goal.

Shippensburg upped their lead to 7-1 before Antonelli scored her second goal of the contest at the 3:36 mark. The assist went to Natalie Schaffner.

Shippensburg ended the half with three straight goals to take a 10-2 advantage.

The Raiders scored an early goal in the second half to up their lead to 11-2 before Wesleyan scored consecutive goals.

Antonelli scored an unassisted goal for her third of the game and Madison Duvall scored an unassisted goal four minutes later to make it an 11-4 contest with 17:38 remaining.

Shippensburg scored the next two, but Antonelli continued her solid game with her fourth goal on a free position shot with 10:24 remaining.

With Shippensburg leading 14-5, Duvall scored her second goal with 4:31 remaining.

Kim Lubic was credited with assist.

Shippensburg closed out the scoring with a goal with 53 seconds left in the game

Wesleyan keeper Lauren Granville played the entire game and made 15 saves.

The Lady Bobcats owned a 14-9 margin in draw controls.

Wesleyan will return to action this Monday when they host St. Vincent at 4 p.m.
