BUCKHANNON – A stellar defensive effort led the West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team to a victory as they defeated St. Vincent College by a 15-5 score in a non-conference outing today at Cebe Ross Field.

The Lady Bobcats pitched a shutout in the first half as they took a commanding 10-0 lead.

Kim Lubic scored her first of four goals at the 21:32 mark of the first half to give Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.

Darla Quevedo scored just 30 seconds later to up the Lady Bobcat lead to 2-0.

Eight minutes ticked off the clock before Natalie Schaffner scored to increase the lead to 3-0 for Wesleyan.

Lubic tallied her second goal at the 12:30 to hand Wesleyan a 4-0 advantage.

Over the next three minutes, Caitlyn Baicar, Katie Kennedy, Lubic and Hannah Antonelli all scored to give Wesleyan an 8-0 lead.

In the final three minutes of the half, Quevedo and Antonelli scored to make it a 10-0 game at the intermission.

St. Vincent controlled play for the first 13 minutes of the second half as they closed the gap to 11-5.

Wesleyan ended the game with four unanswered goals as Madison Duvall, Lubic each scored and Schaffner scored twice.

The Lady 'Cats owned a 31-13 advantage in shots-on-goal.

Draw controls were even at 11-11.

Madison Nock earned the win in the net for Wesleyan turning away eight shots.

The win improved Wesleyan to 2-4 overall.

They will return to action this Saturday when they host Sweet Briar at 10:30 a.m.
