Box Score WHEELING – The West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team wasn't able to make a second straight trip to the MEC championship contest after coming up short in their MEC semi-final match against the Wheeling Jesuit Lady Cardinals today at Bishop Schmitt Field.
The Lady Bobcats dropped a 17-6 decision and ended their year at 6-9.
Wesleyan fell behind by a 12-4 score at the half.
Picking up the first-half goals were Natalie Schaffner scoring twice and Madison Duvall and Darla Quevedo each scoring once.
Wesleyan managed just two goals in the second half – one by Duvall and one by Samantha Pappas.
The Lady 'Cats were outshot by a 40-17 margin and a 30-14 margin in shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Madison Nock turned away 13 shots.
Wheeling Jesuit and Shepherd will play for the MEC title Sunday at 1 p.m.
