Box Score BUCKHANNON – Emily Knight (pictured) continued her torrid play for the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat soccer team today the they faced the Shepherd University Lady Rams in a Mountain East Conference battle at Culpepper Stadium
Knight had a goal and an assist as the Lady Bobcats earned a 2-0 victory.
Knight tallied two goals Friday night against Urbana.
Knight played a header to Shannon Shawgo who beat Shepherd keeper Kelsey Rhoderick for the first goal of the game with just 6:14 ticked off the first half clock.
Wesleyan would hold onto that 1-0 lead until the 77th minute.
At that time, Knight scored an unassisted goal as she drove a shot just inside the left post that Rhoderick couldn't stop.
The Lady Bobcats controlled play throughout the game as Shepherd didn't get a shot-on-goal and only two shots overall.
Wesleyan managed 17 shots and nine shots-on-goal.
Wesleyan keeper Cheslea Hubner recorded her seventh shutout of the year as she didn't have to face a shot.
The Lady Bobcats took seven corner kicks while the Lady Rams had four.
Shepherd fell to 3-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the MEC.
Wesleyan improved to 6-0-2 overall and 5-0-2 in the MEC.
Wesleyan will return to action Wednesday at home in a non-conference game with California (Pa.).
The game will start at 7 p.m.
