Lady Bobcat Netters Down Davis & Elkins, 6-3

BUCKHANNON -- The West Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team clawed out tough wins in each of the doubles matches to lead the way in a 6-3 victory over the Davis & Elkins Senators in here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The Lady Bobcats snapped a two-match losing skid with the non-conference win as they raised their record to 5-3 for the the fall season.

Wesleyan was down a break in each of the doubles matches early on, but held on to take close wins in all three spots for the sweep.

The Lady 'Cats stopped the Senators 9-7 at the number one (Cecila Martinez Oliver and Irene Nunez (pictured)) and number three positions (Estel Fernandez and Kasumi Hayashi), and claimed an 8-6 margin at number two doubles (Rebekka Heigermoser and Julia Yanes).

Martinez Oliver, Yanes Hayashi completed the scoring with straight set wins in singles for Wesleyan. Nunez and Heigermoser each dropped close matches in their singles matches which lasted well over two hours. 

Wesleyan now travels to Fairmont State and Shepherd on Friday and Saturday, respectively for key Mountain East Conference contests.
