SALEM -- Conor Davies scored a goal in the 79th minute for the West Virginia Wesleyan College men's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon, enabling the Bobcats to snare a 2-2 tie at Salem International in non-conference action.
Wesleyan gained an early lead in the contest with Matthew Bentley scoring off a Guillermo Rueda assist in the 23rd minute.
The Bobcats took that 1-0 advantage into the intermission.
Salem International answered with a pair goals to take a 2-1 lead.
Federico Toschi delivered the equalizer in the 58th minute and Sjoerd Schobbers put the Tigers up in the 72nd minute.
Davies key goal answered the tally by Schobbers and averted a loss for the Bobcats.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the two 10-minute overtime periods.
Salem International led in shots by a 17-13 margin, but Wesleyan owned an 11-10 lead in shots-on-goal.
Bobcat keeper Cooper Zent made eight stops.
Wesleyan led in corner kicks, 6-5.
Coach Gavin Donaldson's squad now sports a 6-3-2 record.
Salem International has an identical 6-3-2 overall mark.
Donaldson's troops are back to MEC action this Friday, hosting Shepherd at 4:30 p.m.
