Wesleyan Volleyball Falls to Shepherd

Coach Nancy Wheeler's West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team fought a talented Shepherd team hard Friday night, but fell in straight sets 19-25-20-25, 25-27. 

 
Shepherd is ranked second in the Mountain East Conference, but was in danger of losing the third set as the Lady Bobcats held a 25-24 advantage into extra play. But the Rams recorded three consecutive points to close the match.
 
Emily Doyle and Hannah King each registered eight kills, with setter Katlyn Buckland recording 24 assists. Hannah Bradford posted team highs with 18 digs and three service aces. Leah Blend led with four blocks, followed by Buckland and Ebonie Hicks with three each.
 
It was Senior Night in the Rockefeller Center, as Wesleyan bid farewell to four seniors; King, Blend, Morgan Matter, and Leah Casarano.
 
Wesleyan falls to 12-18 overall, and 6-9 in the MEC. Shepherd improves to 22-6 and 11-4.
 
Wesleyan is back in action Saturday afternoon, hosting Fairmont State in the regular season finale.
