BUCKHANNON – Following a sweep of Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday, things went south for the West Virginia Wesleyan baseball team today in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader with the West Liberty Hilltoppers at Hank Ellis Field.

The 'Cats lost both games to West Liberty – 18-5 and 6-3.

In game one, West Liberty took control early with a pair of runs in the first inning and then erupted to 10 in the top of the second for a 12-0 lead.

They added three more in the third and one more in the fourth for a 16-0 advantage.

Wesleyan got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth when Griffin Roe singled home Wyatt Adkins.

West Liberty tacked one more in the sixth and seventh innings for an 18-1 lead.

Wesleyan pushed across four runs on just one hit in the bottom of the seventh.

The 'Cats managed six hits as Hunter Rotarius, James Fraser, John Koon, Dominic Castello, Adkins and Roe each had one apiece.

In the second game, West Liberty opened up a 6-0 lead after 7 ½ innings of action.

Wesleyan chased across three runs in their half of the eighth.

Rotarius (pictured on on the mound) had a two-run single and Fraser had a one-run single.

Fraser collected four of Wesleyan's 10 hits in game two.

West Liberty improved to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in the MEC.

Wesleyan dropped to 3-13 overall and 2-2 in the MEC.

The Bobcats will return to action Saturday at Fairmont State in a conference doubleheader.

First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
