Lacrosse Team Drops Contest to No. 5 Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. – The West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team dropped an 18-2 decision today to No. 5 Florida Southern in non-conference action during their spring break tour.

Florida Southern jumped into a 3-0 lead before Darla Quevedo put Wesleyan on the board with an unassisted goal with 23:36 showing on the first-half clock.

Florida Southern scored the next 12 goals of the half for a 15-1 lead at the break.

Wesleyan's lone goal in the second half came with 7:10 left when Kim Lubic scored.

Quevedo had the assist on Lubic's goal.

Wesleyan trailed in shots-on-goal by a 25-4 margin.

Florida Southern was dominant in draw controls as they held a 21-1 advantage.

Wesleyan keeper Alexus Bonner made seven saves.

Florida Southern improved to 6-2.

Wesleyan dropped to 1-2.

They will return to action tomorrow as they face Coker at 4 p.m.
