BUCKHANNON – Hannah Vet (pictured) pitched a seven-inning no-hitter as No. 12 West Virginia Wesleyan stepped outside of Mountain East Conference play and took on the Salem International Tigers Tuesday evening at Culpepper Field.

Wesleyan won game one by a 7-0 margin and took game two by an 8-0 score in five innings of play.

Vet set the tone in game one as she pitched the first Lady Bobcat no-hitter of the year.

She improved her record to 15-2 as she walked just one batter and fanned eight.

The Lady Bobcats used a five-run third inning to take control of the game.

Brooklyn Waddell had the big hit, a two-run home run in the inning.

Sara Scoone, Morgan Bruce and Emma Rickels each had a one-run single during the inning as well.

Wesleyan wrapped up scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning as Waddell added a two-run double that scored Bruce and Tori Pogue.

Wesleyan pounded out 11 hits with Pogue collecting three hits while Waddell added two hits and four RBIs.

Jessica Rodriguez added two hits as well.

In game two, Sayaka Foley kept the solid pitching going as she twirled a five-inning shutout allowing just two hits while not walking a batter and fanning six.

She upped her record to 12-3.

Wesleyan chased across three runs in the bottom of the first to give Foley all the offense she needed.

Olivia Gore hit a one-run single and Rodriguez emptied the bases with a two-run triple to center field.

The Lady Bobcats ended the game on the mercy rule with a five-run fifth inning.

Scoone hit a one-run single, Bruce smashed a one-run double to center field, Rodriguez cracked a two-run single to left field and Brittani Bible hit a one-run double to left field to wrap up the scoring.

Wesleyan had 11 hits in game two as well as Rodriguez had two hits and four RBIs while Bible added two hits and one RBI.

The two wins hiked the Wesleyan winning streak to seven.

Wesleyan has now pitched four straight shutouts over 26 innings of work.

Head coach Steve Warner's squad is now 32-6 overall and 18-4 in the MEC.

They will return to action this Saturday on the road against West Virginia State in a MEC doubleheader.

Game one is slated to get underway at 2 p.m.
