Box Score BUCKHANNON – For the second straight game, the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats waited until the second half to find the back of the net.
In tonight's Mountain East Conference game with the Concord Mt. Lions, Wesleyan scored three times in the second half en route to a 3-0 victory.
In their home opener against Slippery Rock this past Saturday afternoon, the Lady 'Cats scored both of their goals in the second half in a 2-1 win.
With most of the game played in a down pour, neither team found the net in the first half.
Amy Stewart (pictured) broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal. She played a deflected ball from outside the 18 past Concord keeper Katie Maher.
The second goal was a strange was for the Lady Bobcats.
Maher had stopped a shot and just rolled the ball out in front of her right to Shannon Shawgo who put a shot over Maher and into the net at the 70th minute of the game.
Natalie Prater wrapped up the score with four minutes left in the game when she played a ball from Kayla Fay and beat Maher with a shot from outside the 18.
Wesleyan outshot Concord by an 18-12 and owned a 10-6 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Lady Bobcat keeper Ashlee Schumacher stopped all six shots she faced for her first shutout of the season.
Wesleyan was guilty of 12 fouls while Concord was called four seven.
The loss dropped Concord to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the MEC.
Wesleyan improved to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the MEC.
The Lady Bobcats will return to the pitch Friday evening when they host Urbana at 5 p.m. in a MEC clash.
