Bobcat Rally Falls Short in Loss to Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN -- Junior Fred Brondsted scored 21 points (8-of-13) Wednesday night, but a second half surge by the Rams resulted in a 63-58 loss for the Bobcats. Wesleyan battled back from a seven point deficit, getting within three points after an Aaron Ariri dunk with 22 seconds left. Four late free throws from Rams Guard Thomas Lang would secure the victory. Shepherd shot 7-of-7 from the foul line.

Brondsted led the Bobcats in points (21), and teammate Ariri added 17 points (6-of-9) to go along with his team-high seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Luka Petrovic added eight points (4-of-7) and dished out seven assists in a strong effort.

Shepherd was led by AJ Carr, who scored 16 points and added eight rebounds.

Wesleyan shot 53 percent (24-45) from the field.

Wesleyan drops to 2-15 on the year with loss. Shepherd improves to 11-6.

The Bobcats return to action this Saturday on the road to take on Glenville State. Tip-off will occur at 4 p.m.
