Recap
It was a special moment at the Rockefeller Center when teammates surrounded Senior
Nicole Gilyard as Women's Basketball celebrated their final victory of the 2019-20 season. It will also be the last win in the careers of
Nicole Gilyard and fellow Senior Anastasia Karavainova. The two helped lead the Lady 'Cats to a 74-71 victory over Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon, and Gilyard gave her steady performance of fourteen points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Her value to the team was evident in how hard the team played for her in her final game, especially in the final minutes as the bench and the crowd started to energize the group on the floor. Wesleyan did not lead until minutes into the third quarter, and from there the leadership of Gilyard, and the play of
Cierra Tolbert and
Courtney Wilfong, brought that spark the team needed to pull away. It was a fitting end to the career of
Nicole Gilyard that she was able to ice the game from the free-throw line in the final seconds.
