Cross Country Preview: MEC Championship

The MEC Championship is next for the WVWC cross country teams.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan cross country teams are set to compete in the Mountain East Conference Championship at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.Va., on Saturday (Oct. 23). The women's 6,000-meter race will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 10:30 a.m. Awards will begin approximately at 11:30 a.m.
 
Last Time Out​​​​​​
  • WVWC last competed on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Muskingum Invitational. The men's team finished second and women's team finished in third place.
  • Evan Pyles was the top performer on the men's side claiming a third place finish by navigating the course in 28:07.
  • Tori Carr added another top-10 finish to her senior campaign in the women's race, finishing seventh out of 88 competitors. Carr held an average pace of 6:42 during the race on her way to a finishing time of 25:01. 
  • Lauren Chickosky (26:21) and Alexis Imperial (27:06) finished just outside the top-10, crossing in 13th and 15th place, respectively.
  • Jacob Defibaugh and Anthony Sanders were the other two Bobcat competitors inside the top-10, Defibaugh (28:59) and Sanders (29:43) took sixth and ninth respectively for the Orange & Black.
