Wesleyan Falls to Charleston

Carrie Barnett led the Bobcats with seven points.

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan (2-18, 1-16) women's basketball team dropped a home game versus Charleston (15-7, 13-5) on Monday (Feb. 14) night inside the Rockefeller Center.
 
WVWC Leaders
Carrie Barnett scored the most points for WVWC with seven. Barnett was perfect from the field and went 3-3. Malaika Kimmons secured eight boards. Courtney Wilfong passed two assists. Daveona Hatchell swatted one block and Symphonie Bryant-Brown forced two steals.
 
Charleston Leaders
Sharpshooter Dakota Reeves sank eight three-point baskets and led the visitors with 24 points. Reeves, Markyia McCormick, Clarrissa Francis and Trinity Palacio combined to score 57 of UC's 90 points. Clarrissa and Anastasiia Zakharova both tallied eight rebounds. Palacio and McCormick added a total of eight assists. Zakharova and Camryn Nadir both had three steals. 
 
Inside the First Half
Charleston jumped out to a nine-point lead early in the first quarter. Tamera Maple converted the Bobcats' first three-point basket midway through the quarter. The Golden Eagles led 25-6 at the end of the first frame. The Bobcats' largest scoring run of the game was a six-point scoring run with made baskets by Kimmons, Wilfong and Hatchell. UC closed the first half on a 8-2 run and led by 26 at the break.
 
Inside the Second Half
UC outscored Wesleyan 13-11 in the five minutes of the third quarter. Barnett delivered two tough baskets and Symphonie Bryant-Brown connected on a triple in the opening minutes of the second half. Charleston scored the final 11 points of the third act. The visitors secured a 90-37 victory.
