ELKINS, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan cross country program competed at the Route 33 Cup on Friday (Sept. 16) in Elkins, W.Va. The men`s team ran a 7K and women's team ran a 5K. Both teams finished in second place.
 
Five Bobcats, Leigha Hall, Marimo Akita, Dakota Johnson, Kristina Lesho and Cade Robinson earned top-ten finishes in their respective races. Hall finished fourth with a time of 19:20 and ran a pace of 6:13.3. Akita followed closely, finishing fifth with a time of 19:34 and ran a pace of 6:17.8. Johnson (20:11) and Lesho (20:27) finished eighth and tenth to round out the top ten for the women. Robinson had another strong performance finishing sixth overall with a time of 22:19 and ran a pace of 5:07.8.
 
On the men's side, Anthony Sanders finished 13th with a time of 22:48. Damon Martin took 16th with a time of 22:59. Evan Pyles (23:19), Elijah Hannig (23:32) and Jacob Defibaugh (23:42) finished 18th, 19th, and 20th. Christian Cimaglia rounded out the scoring for WVWC finishing 23rd with a time of 24:10.
 
On the women's side, Alyssa Kelleher finished 18th with a time of 22:06. Alexis Gorondy rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats taking 19th with a time of 22:55.
 
Both cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 1) at Sawyer State Park for the Live in Lou Classic in Louisville, Ky.
