Cross Country Strives in Bill Lenox Invitational

The Wesleyan Cross Country Program participated in the Bill Lenox Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University. The Women's XC team, who was lead by Junior Leigha Hall, came in 5th place after her amazing performance. The Men's XC team who were lead by Freshman Kent Niland, came in 4th place behind his monumental performance. Both of these athletes ran the fastest time by both a male and female in the Cross Country Program since 2017.

The Men's Cross Country team participated in 8k at the Invitational. The Bobcats were competing against 11 other college and universities, and was able to come in 4th overall for the event. The Bobcats' were led by Freshman Kent Niland who ran a personal best 25:53, running the fastest time in the program since 2017. Niland came in 11th out of 156 runners in this invitational. He was followed by Evan Pyles who came in 17th finishing the event running a 26:19 with a pace of 5:18. These spectacular performances pushed the Bobcats' forward, giving them a top five finish for the event.

The Women's Cross Country team participated in 6k at the invitational. The women participated against the same 11 teams and finished this competition in 5th place. The Bobcats' were led by Junior Leigha Hall, who ran a personal best 22:26, running the fastest time in the women's program since 2017. Hall came in 5th place out of 150 runners in the Bill Lenox Invitational. She was followed by Sophomore Marimo Akita who came in 27th running a 24:35 with a pace of 6:36. These performances led to the Bobcats' coming in 5th for te entire event.

The Cross Country Program will now be preparing for the Mountain East Conference Championships which will take place on October 21st. Looking to bring the same energy from this invitational and bring more awareness to this program.
