Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bobcats’ Win Streak Continues with Victory Over Frostburg

The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats' No. 1 conference defense held strong against Frostburg State University while its offense continued to highlight individual performances in a 75-66 victory, Tuesday in Frostburg.

Against Fairmont, it was Sydney Baird with 29 points. Against Carlow, it was Lojain Elfatairy with 19 points. Tuesday, against Frostburg, it was last year's points leader, junior guard Emma Witt with 30 points, a career second-best total. In a game that Wesleyan never trailed, Witt went 13-of-22 with 4-of-6 from the charity stripe, five rebounds and three assists.

Wesleyan maintained a comfortable margin until the Frostburg Bobcats started clawing its way back. The Mountain East Conference's leading scorer, Frostburg's Emilee Weakley, pulled her team to within three at 67-64 with just 1:34 on the fourth quarter clock. But a couple of ill-timed turnovers and a pair of missed 3-pointers silenced the comeback.

Lojain had a 5-of-7 FG outing (14 points) for Wesleyan and Baird managed just 3-of-10 (10 points) in support.

Wesleyan (5-1, 2-0 MEC) next hosts West Liberty University (3-4, 1-0 MEC) in the Rockefeller Center Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
