BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State is the preseason favorite to win the Mountain East Conference title, the league announced Friday. The vote was conducted by the league's eight head coaches. 

The Pioneers, who received 54 points, are the defending MEC champions after narrowly defeating the University of Charleston by one stroke at the 2024 MEC Championships. UC finished second in the 2025 preseason poll with 51 points, earning two first-place votes. 

Fairmont State is third in the poll with 44 points and claimed the remaining first-place vote. 

Following the top three were Davis & Elkins (34 points), West Liberty (29 points), Wheeling (26 points), Concord (23 points), and West Virginia Wesleyan (19 points). 

More than half of the league will open the season Sept. 4 at the Wheeling Invitational in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The 2025 MEC Championships will be held at the Cobb Course at Glade Springs on Oct. 6-8.
