BUCKHANNON, W. Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball turned in a dominating performance on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Davis & Elkins 92-60 at the Rockefeller Center. The Bobcats controlled the game from the opening tip, building a double-digit advantage in the first quarter and never looking back to improve to 10-4 overall and 8-3 in Mountain East Conference play.
Senior forward
Emma Witt delivered a standout performance, finishing with a game-high 26 points on 10-of-11 shooting, adding 8 rebounds, and going 6-for-7 at the foul line. Witt's presence in the paint anchored a Wesleyan attack that piled up 50 points in the paint and 21 second-chance points, consistently punishing the Senators on the glass.
Wesleyan's balanced scoring attack featured four players in double figures.
Kilah Dandridge added 13 points and 8 rebounds, while
Ana Young knocked down three 3-pointers on the way to 11 points. Point guard
Sydney Baird filled up the stat sheet with 10 points and a team-high 7 assists, directing an offense that shot 51.5% (35-of-68) from the field for the game.
The Bobcats also received key contributions from the bench, outscoring D&E 28-22 in reserve points.
Avery Childers scored eight points and dished out four assists, while
Kadie Colebank provided a spark with eight points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting effort and six rebounds in just 10 minutes.
Defensively, Wesleyan applied pressure and created extra opportunities, finishing with 6 steals and forcing D&E into 19 turnovers, which the Bobcats converted into 20 points off turnovers. The Senators shot 35.1% from the floor and 2-of-12 from three-point range.
Davis & Elkins was led by Jahniya Marion, who scored 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting, while Kylie Morris added 11 points. The Senators got additional production from Jatia Markes (9 points) and Addison Boram (7 points).
