Kyle Hoffman begins up his second season as head coach of his alma mater leading the Bobcats in 2022-23.
His women's program finished with their first winning season since 2018-19 season while the men finished seventh in the Atlantic region in 2022. Hoffman coached several players who received accolades including Kihiro Karasawa, who was selected as Mountain East Conference and Atlantic Region Freshmen of the Year. In addition to Karasawa, Hoffman coached junior Camillo Salvi, who won First Team All-MEC and Taylor Papworth, who received Second Team MEC recognition.
Hoffman, who originates from Fairmont, W.Va., played for the Bobcats from 2002-2006 and captured over 50 collegiate victories. He was recognized as his team's MVP and Most Improved Player during his playing career. Hoffman started his coaching career at Fairmont State University where he led the Falcons in his second year to their first MEC title in over 30 years. In 2018 Hoffman led the Fighting Falcons to their first NCAA appearance. He was claimed back-to-back MEC Coach of the Year awards in 2016 & 2017 and was honored as ITA Atlantic Coach of the Year in 2017. He went on to lead the Salem Tigers for two seasons where he had a nationally-ranked women's program. Hoffman coached the ITA National Player to Watch in 2020. On the men's side Hoffman coached the ITA Atlantic Regional Player of the Year.
Outside of coaching, he worked for the USTA for 11 years in various capacities. Hoffman worked in the community and youth space generating thousands of new players and programs for West Virginia communities. His work was recognized by the PTR as the West Virginia Member of the Year in 2014 and by the TGA honoring his team with the Hope Warner Award.
Hoffman is an USPTA Elite Professional and currently sits on the USPTA Mid-Atlantic Board. He is PTR certified in 10 and under, 11-17, adults, and has a master's in junior development.
Hoffman graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan with a bachelor's and master's degree in Business Management. He and his family live in Bridgeport.
