Westfall is no stranger to Buckhannon or West Virginia Wesleyan College. A graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School (BUHS), he earned multiple honors in both basketball and golf, including 1996–97 All-NCAC, 1996–97 All-State, and 1997 NCAC Conference Player of the Year.
At Wesleyan, Westfall competed for legendary head coach Charlie Miller from 1997–2001, earning WVIAC All-Freshman honors in 1997 and a spot in the prestigious Bobcat 1500 Club, scoring over 1,000 points and pulling down more than 500 rebounds in his career. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations.
In addition to his playing career, Westfall has built a strong reputation as a coach at his alma mater.
BUHS Boys Basketball Coach (2022–present):
o  2022: Guided the Bucs to the Region I Final.
o  2023: Recorded 16 wins, the most in 20 years, including a championship at the Strasburg HS Christmas Classic (Virginia).
BUHS Golf Coach (2018–2024):
o  Captured the Route 33 Cup (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022).
o  Led BUHS to the 2020 WV State Tournament, finishing 8th in WV Class 3A.
o  Named 2021 Big X Coach of the Year after guiding the team to the Big X Conference Championship.
o  Qualified an individual for the 2021 WV State Tournament.
