BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan Softball team swept Concord in Friday's competition and UVA Wise in Saturday's competition.
In the first game on Friday, with a final score of 10-0,
Brittani Bible started off the 2
nd inning when she reached on a fielder's choice and
Aylin Gutierrez scored. In the 4
th inning,
Madison Casto singled to center field,
Kasey Robinson advanced to third and
Arianna Smoot scored.
Lauryn King homered to left field, bringing home Casto and Robinson. In the 5
th inning, Bible homered to left field, bringing in
Brianna Ross to cross home plate. To finish the game, in the 6
th inning,
Morgan Bruce homered to right center while King and
Sara Scoone scored.
In the second game on Friday, with a final score of 8-6, Gutierrez started the 1
st inning and doubled down the infield line, King advanced to third, and Scoone scored. Bruce singled up the middle while Gutierrez and King scored. In the 3
rd inning, Gutierrez homered, bringing home
Krista Waggoner. Bruce homered followed by Bible who also homered. Scoone singled while
Megan Magsamen scored.
In the game on Saturday, with a final score of 5-3, Waggoner started off the 1
st inning when she singled and King scored. In the 5
th inning, Gutierrez homered to left field and King scored. In the 6
th inning, Scoone singled while Casto scored. In the 7
th inning, Gutierrez reached on a fielding error by the 2
nd basemen allowing King to score.
In the final game on Saturday, with a final score of 2-0, the action took place in the 4
th inning. Waggoner singled and King scored. Then, Gutierrez homered to center field.
The Bobcats complete their conference play with an overall record of 37-10 and an MEC record of 28-4. The team will compete at 12pm against Notre Dame on Friday, May 4
th for the first round of the MEC Tournament.
